My favorite is the Egyptian Mercerized Cotton because I am passionate about lace in all of its forms (knitted, crocheted and even tatted) and this cotton thread has the right amount of sheen to help the lace ‘shine’. Variegated threads are usually not well suited for lacy work, but many of your colorways are excellent because the color variation is subtle enough to give an interesting depth without competing with the lace pattern. I used ‘Carnelian’ for a lacy crocheted shawl that won the 1st prize at the Lehigh County Fair last September.
I haven’t used it for tatting yet, but already have some things in mind, including a knitted shawl with a tatted edging.
Honestly, have never used Heron yarns, but dying for a chance to try them! Saw this project in my magazine, beautiful tones and textures, sheen of the yarn is intriguing.
That’s a tough question becasue I love several of these yarns and carry them in my shop. But if I had to pick one I think it would be the Bamboo lace. It makes amazing wraps and shawls and the drape is perfect. The skein is very generous in yardage to complete a one skein project My customers also by it to make socks and get 2 pair out of one skein. The feel of this yarn is Irresistible! Try it -you’ll like it
I think my favorite Blue Heron Yarn was a one-off combination of Petite Cotton and Rayon Ribbon. It was fabulous. Fantastic color (old gold), easy to knit, beautiful sheen and a wonderful drape.
My second favorite is the Rayon Metallic. I currently have a skein in my stash waiting to turn into a gorgeous..something
I love the chenille you had. I knitted scaves and then felted them. My favorite is the metallic rayon.

I fell in love with Blue Heron Rayon Metallic the first time I saw it. I had only been knitting a few months when I went to a Knit and Crochet Festival. I knew immediately what I was knitting with it and for whom. My daughter-in-law to-be received a ‘Welcome to the Family’ shawl. I showed the yarn to my local yarn shop. She fell in love with it and has carried it in her shop since then. Six years later and it is still my favorite yarn.
I love the bamboo. It’s soft, drapes beautifully, has great stitch definition, and is very fun to knit.
I’ve not actually used your yarn yet but it looks gorgeous in this shawl and I’d love the chance to try it!!
Unfortunatelly I haven’t had the chance yet to try the Blue Heron Yarns, but trully I would be more than happy if I win this amazing yarn!

I fell in love with the bamboo lace when I was in San Francisco last summer. I bought it as my “souvenir” of the trip. Still waiting for the perfect pattern before I start into it. Thinking a shawl for sure. Oh and the colorway I picked out reminded me of the sky when the fog rolls in over the city so I thought it would remind me of my anniversary trip with my hubby.
Haven’t tried it, but would love too!
I’ve never used Blue Heron Yarn but I would love to try it. I don’t know anything about the colors but the variegated color in the picture of the Vineyard at Dawn Shawl is beautiful.
The bamboo lace in Water Hyacinth is just too delicious (I can knit with anything but I’m allergic to wool, but I can wear bamboo, sooooo~!)

I’ve not the opportunity to try it yet BUT looking at the various skeins offered on Blue Heron’s site makes me want to cough up the cash and use any of the purple dyed yarns for projects! So pretty!
I like the Rayon loop- the smooth yarn with the slightly rough texture- would create great items. I love the ocean blue colors- and could see a light wrap in that yarn and color.
I haven’t tried your yarn yet, but it sounds lovely! I am currently designing a lace coverlet for my bed and I may well decide to use your cotton yarn for the project.
Unfortunately I have yet to use Blue Heron Yarn. However, when I got the magazine I checked out the company and its Yarns. I love the look of all of them. The rayon metallic has me very excited! I am dreaming up numerous sophisticated shawls using this yarn! The colors of all the yarns are amazing!
I love many of the yarns, my favorite scarf is made with cotton rayon seed, I love the color changes and the texture of the yarn.
Ive not ever tried Blue Heron yarns before, but after looking at what’s available: WOW!! I especially love nubby “rustic” looking yarns, so at one point or another I will have to try the Rayon Loop. I can imagine all sorts of things to make out of this!

I have never used this yarn but I would love to try the soft twist rayon. The colors are luscious and make me want to pick up my hook and create something beautiful.
I have never used Blue Heron yarns. They are not available in my area. However I would love to try the bamboo lace yarn. Bamboo yarn is impossible to find at a reasonable price and I love the feel of it. The colors I like best are bluegrass and mossy place.
I have not used Blue Heron yarn although I would LOVE to try it. I am an avid and daily crocheter and can crochet just about anything. My latest craze are doilies and vintage jar covers. Have made dozens of afghans, tons of baby clothes, slippers, mittens, shawls…….this is my addiction, my vice, my got to have and I just love to crochet new things - I rarely crochet the same pattern twice. I love the Blue Heron Rayon Metallic and the Bamboo Lace. The colors are so rich, and the silkiness gives a lovely drape to the finished piece!

Rayon Metallic is my favorite. Love at first glimpse, I haven’t seen a color way I don’t want to take home with me. I love how silky it is and am impressed with how wonderful it knits and crochets up. It is sometimes a gamble whether a variegated yarn will work well with a crocheted piece but I am impressed with FO’s I have seen. The sparkle woven through it is the perfect finishing touch and the yardage is very generous.

Never heard of the yarn until just now. Will look it up. Love the shawl! Would look nice even on a short plump older lady like me! My favorite Blue Heron yarn is the Rayon Metallic. The colorways are fabulous and working with this yarn is almost meditative. Shawls show off this yarn wonderfully.
I saw the shawl that is in the latest and Crochet Magazine and I immediately wanted to make it! I was not aware of the Blue Heron yarns until I looked at the pattern. I am planning on making this for a silent auction for my charity, CASA.org.
I am quite new to crochet, or fibre arts of any kind, so I haven’t had the chance to works with these yarns yet. They look lovely and I’d be thrilled at a chance to make their acquaintance.

Like many others responding, I’ve not had the pleasure of trying Blue Heron yarn but it looks so tempting to touch! I’m quite attracted to the colors of both the Slate Bamboo Lace and Chesapeake Rayon Metallic. So many good color choices.

Picking a favorite is a challenge, but I’m going with the Egyptian mercerized cotton. It’s got such a luster about it, unlike any other cotton I’ve worked with, and the colorways are interesting without being too busy that they distract from the pattern. It’s great for crocheted shawls (ala this one I made a few summers ago: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/SarahQ/flying-diamonds-shawl)
Have lusted after the rayon metallic ever since getting the book Tunisian Crochet by Sharon Silverman…Also, Vashti Braha’s 5 Peaks wrap in Cotton Rayon Seed is yummy. I would really welcome the opportunity to make the shawl above…

I too have never used Blue Heron yarn. But the Rayon Metallic seems like a very pretty yarn. And now I am interested in the Egyptian cotton yarn because of the comments made here.
I love ALL of the Rayon Metallic! I just saw them at Stitches in Atlanta, ESP the denim is my fav! They are beautiful and very soft. Would LOVE to win!
I absolutely love this pattern and the yarn. I would love to make this for my DL for Christmas. I have postponed buying the yarn, since I am on a fixed income. It is gorgeous yarn and pattern. I don’t usually EVER win anything, but thought for this yarn I would try.
